Newborn Session FAQs
When is the best time for newborn portraits?
The best time to photograph newborns are within the first 5-14 days of life. Baby is most sleepy and easiest to pose in this time frame. After 14 days of age, baby tends to be more alert and awake during the session.
When should I schedule my session?
Booking your session before or during your second trimester is recommended. I schedule a limited number of newborns each month. Once you book, your due date is a tentative session date on my calendar. Please contact me when baby arrives. This will ensure that the session is scheduled within the recommended timeframe.
Where does the session take place?
My in-home studio is located in my home in Greensboro, NC.
What about props?
I provide wraps, headbands, hats, baskets, buckets, fabric backdrops, etc. in my home studio. When you book your session, you will fill out a questionnaire that gives me information about your preferences for colors, etc. Sentimental items are welcome to used in your session. Just let me know ahead of time so that we can plan to incorporate the item in your session.
What poses will you do during the session?
I follow baby's lead! Every baby is different. I allow time for feedings, diaper changes and snuggles.
What about parents and siblings?
Yes, parents and siblings are welcome to be included in the session. Toddlers and very young siblings are usually photographed with baby at the beginning of the session. Parent and sibling images are shot from the waist up. I recommend wearing neutral colors such as beige, white, or black. Avoid logos and patterns.
I look forward to meeting you and your little one!
